Digital marketers using Facebook are currently seeing a drop in their organic reach and find it difficult to get their audience. Even those pages with thousands of fans see only a tiny fraction of their posts actually being viewed in newsfeeds. Facebook admits that digital marketers need to pay in order to get their companies’ post to more users’ newsfeeds.
While it”s a challenge, there are ways to increase your organic reach. Even though Facebook decreased the organic reach, you are still reaching your targeted audience who cares about your brand.
Here are five ways to maximize your brand”s reach on Facebook and make your post more visible.
1. Best Time to Post on Facebook
The best time to post on Facebook is when as many of your Fans are online as possible, especially if you only post one or two times a day. Facebook Insights tab was specifically designed to help you to know when your fans are online. Inside the Insight Tab, there is a graph called “When Your Fans Are Online”. It shows how many of your fans are online each hour or specific days of the week. Find the best time to post on Facebook by looking for times when you have the most fans online.
2. Increase Post Frequency
After looking at your Insights, you can see that there’s never a period when none of your fans are using Facebook. They will be on Facebook for an average of 30-60 minutes. This means if you post only once, you can only reach Fans who were on within about 1 to 2 hour duration. To improve reach more people, you need to post multiple times per day. Number of times will depend on your content and the preferences of your audience. However, don’t repost same content multiple times in the same day. And don’t post for the sake of posting.
3. Resharing Old Content
Resharing old content is highly beneficial. You could reshare an old post and expect to reach different audience the second time around. But make sure you do it strategically. The content you intend to reshare should be evergreen meaning it should be relevant to the audience no matter when they read it. Schedule your evergreen contents during pre-designated times to reach your audience.
4. Create engaging content
Facebook is a social networking site not a billboard and it encourages social activities. If you are not engaging with a brand through Facebook, the contents from that brand are less likely to appear on your news feed. Increase the engagement with your Fans and you can be in their News Feed. Post good quality content people actually want to see and engage with on a continuous basis. Be creative while making good content. Avoid getting negative feedback. Don”t use old, played out tricks such as “comment if” or “share if” types of calls to action.
5. Take Advantage of Facebook Story Bumping
Story Bumping is Facebook’s way of making sure you see content that is highly relevant even if it’s a little bit older. You must have seen this when your friends comment on an old photo and it comes at the top of your News Feed. Like said before “engagement” is an important factor and with Story Bumping, content with more engagement will be pushed up to the top of users’ News Feeds. As more people engage with your content, the more they will see that engagement in their News Feeds. So create quality content that that inspires users to comment.
6. Build a Fan base the correct Way
Build appropriate fan base who is interested in your brand. Create your Fan base organically by following the steps mentioned above. Consistently creating high quality contents and posting them frequently lands your brand to non-Fans. Be careful about ‘Ad targeting’ and avoid focusing on cheapest price possible. Target relevant countries and avoid countries that result in spam. You can use “Custom Audiences” to target the correct audience.
Facebook wants users to see content and it rewards the brands that create quality content. Following these tips will help Facebook’s algorithm to work for you and thereby maximizing your brand”s Facebook reach.
